What’s In Your Toiletry Bag?

Traveling to a new city or country is exciting and interesting. However, packing your toiletry and suitcase is sometimes challenging. Then determining what items to pack in your toiletry bag can be even harder. So, what’s in your toiletry bag?

Do you throw everything including the kitchen sink into your bag? Or do you only take the necessities? What type a toiletry bag do you prefer? There are so many to chose from including vinyl, cloth, plastic, water-resistant, or hanging ones. Is your preference a bag with various pockets and zippers? Again, you have a variety of choices. More importantly, is what you pack in your toiletry bag.

When packing toiletries, something to consider is whether your trip is domestic or international. If you are traveling domestically, most of your preferred toiletries are available. However, internationally these same items may not be readily available, or they may be expensive. Now, let’s talk about essential things to have in your bag.

Dental Products

Dental products are a must. You must brush your teeth and keep the breath fresh. Think about how the inside of your mouth feels after a long plane ride and airplane food! Therefore, don’t forget a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, and dental floss. Of course, you can purchase the travel size to minimize space.

Skincare Products

Secondly, you need your favorite skincare products. Pack facial cleansers and creams, lotion, and a makeup removal product. Although the hotel usually provides soap and lotion, there’s nothing like your favorite products. If a travel size isn’t available, you can purchase and use 3-ounce travel bottles. Your skin will love you for using consistent products even when traveling.

Hair Care Products

Next, hair care products are a necessity. When traveling, the climate or the of the location can wreak havoc on your hair. Even the hardness of the local water can leave your hair a dry, hot mess. So, pack the shampoo, conditioner, and oils that you use on a regular basis. Every hair on your head will thank you.

Medications

Lastly, do not forget prescribed medication. It’s essential that you take all your medicine as scheduled. Follow your doctor’s orders. You should carry on the prescribed drugs. Do not pack them in a checked suitcase. What happens if the checked bag gets lost? Also, carry OTC drugs such as aspirin, Advil, Tylenol, anti-diarrhea, and motion sickness capsules with you. If traveling abroad, research what drugs are available or illegal to bring into the particular country.

Other Toiletry Items

Other toiletry items to consider are anti-bacterial wipes or sprays. The less germy situations you encounter, the better for you. Also, pack cotton balls, Q-Tips, safety pins, rubber bands, a small flashlight, and Ziploc bags.

Surely, you have more toiletry items that you may want or need. Remember, size matters when the products are in your carry on bag. TSA requires three-ounce containers. Again, research what you can legitimately take on the plane. Lastly, always keep your toiletry bag packed and replenish as needed. Bon Voyage!

  1. I bring everything! Hahaha, my toiletry bag is often the reason my bags are overweight but I use everything I bring. Skincare and hair are huge when I’m on the road, I have to bring my staples. I’ve been working on downsizing – maybe it’ll stick in the new year.
