The Bucket List Continues

After a long winter, my desire to get on a plane and fly away is powerful. I think about the places I want to visit like right now. As I mentioned in the last post, my bucket list is longer than my pocket; however, I plan to visit each country very soon. Dream big! Now check out five additional places on my bucket list.

Senegal

Senegal is a West African country bound by the Atlantic Ocean. The Capital is Dakar. Senegal has a rich history and a tradition of storytelling. Griots perform vocal renditions of historical stories, cultural traditions, and history. It is a way of keeping cultural traditions alive and passing on to younger generations. Tourist attractions that I want to visit are the African Renaissance Monument and Gorèe House. Senegalese cuisine is delicious, and the music is terrific with an intermingling of West African styles with those of Muslim North Africa.

South Africa

South Africa is on the southernmost tip of the African continent. This country had a complicated, political history and overcame the burden of apartheid. Tourism in South Africa fits the needs of diverse travelers. Therefore, I want to visit Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Sun City. Then there are major attractions like the Kruger National Park where big game animals can be seen. Visitors can see lush Winelands and visit the Cape of Good Hope and so much more.

Australia

Visiting the country of Australia clicks on two things on my bucket list. When I touch ground in the land of Australia, I will also visit one more continent. The Indian and Pacific oceans surround the country. Seeing photos of the beautiful Sydney Opera House stokes my interest.

Major cities to visit are Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. The Great Barrier Reef is a major attraction, and so is the Outback. While I am in Australia, I’ll make sure to sip the variety of Australian wines.

Hong Kong

The glitz of Hong Kong has long caught my eye. I visited the Asian cities Beijing and Taiwan, but haven’t made it to Hong Kong yet. This city is a significant port and global financial hub. For shoppers, it is a go-to destination. If you want custom made clothes the tailors of Hong Kong can make anything that you want. Also, if you’re a foodie, it is a great place to find fantastic flavors and spices.

Fiji

When I see photos of the gorgeous beaches of Fiji, I swoon. Fiji is an archipelago of more than 300 islands. The principal islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Suva is the capital and a port city. Fiji is a perfect vacation for a beach or nature love. When visiting prepare to see lush jungles, gorgeous beaches, secluded waterfalls and an abundance of wildlife. Fiji’s motto is “Happiness live here.” I want to feel the happiness!

Greece

If you’re a history nerd and love to travel, Greece is a place to see. It is in Southeastern Europe with islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Also, Greece is called the “cradle of Western Civilization.”

Historical and ancient sites to see include the Parthenon, the Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Cities to visit are the capital, Athens, Santorini, the Ionian Islands, and Mykonos. I want to watch a beautiful sunset on the Aegean Sea!

Plan and Budget

As I work on my goals to visit the locations on my bucket list, I realize it takes time, planning and a budget. The excitement of imagining myself packing my bags and getting on a plane lights a fire under me to get it done! Work hard! Play hard! Now, tell me about your bucket list.
