Museums to Visit

Every big city has museums, but only Cleveland has the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is located downtown on the shore of Lake Erie. Inside the museum, you’re able to see the history and evolution of Rock and Roll. Cleveland was chosen to be the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Designed by architect I.M. Pei, the building’s dedication was in 1985.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is impressive to walk through it, gazing at costumes, sheets of music, and instruments of Hall of Fame inductees. You can roots of Rock and Roll through the gospel, blues, rhythm and blues, bluegrass, folk, and country music. The museum also has theater settings where you can watch previous performances of inductees. If you love music, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the place to see.

If you love art, check out the Cleveland Museum of Art. It is in the Wade Park District. The museum is internationally known for its collection of Asian and Egyptian art, and it also houses over 61,000 pieces of art from around the world. General admission is free, and we all love the word “free.”

When you travel to Cleveland, other museums to visit are the Cleveland Museum of National History, Great Lakes Science Center, and NASA Glenn Space Center. Both adults and children can explore the Living in Space Gallery, exhibits, and much more. The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has exhibits about dinosaurs, lectures, and Drink and Think Night (Adults). If you’re interested in natural history, make sure you visit the museum.

Annual Events and Festivals

Like many great cities, Cleveland has yearly events to meet the needs of all visitors. No matter what month you travel to Cleveland, there’s something fun to do. For example, in February, you can go to the Brite Winter, the outdoor music, art, and beer festival. In March through April is the Cleveland International Film Festival. Then in June, visit the Duck Tape Festival. Check out the Cleveland Annual Event website to find more events to fit your interest.

Parks and Outdoor Spaces

Do you like the outdoors? Cleveland has plenty of green spaces. The Cleveland Metro Parks System offers 18 parks. They cover over 23,000 acres. If you like hiking, Cleveland has over 300 miles of hiking trails. Remember, the city sits on the shores of Lake Erie, so there are eight parks with lake access. Can you swing a golf club? Eight golf courses are available for you to perfect your swing.

Performance Arts

Theater buffs can visit Playhouse Square. It is the theater district in Downtown Cleveland. Playhouse Square is the largest theater district outside of New York City.
